Step 1 - Test FloorPix® material in your shop using your epoxies and the instructions below. This is the most critical part of the process and your best way to insure a successful installation!

Step 2 - Basic Floor Prep: bead blast the fully cured concrete slab. Patch any holes and expansion joint or saw cuts with quality joint filler.

Step 3 -Apply 5 to 10 mil primer coat of clear or colored epoxy over prepped floor and allow to cure. We recommend using a colored primer to cover any patching that was required and help conceal any gaps that may show up when butting FloorPix® panels.

Step 4 - Lay FloorPix® material down on cured primered floor and position material in place, cutting in walls, posts, cabinets or any other obstructions if required. Be sure to butt fit any seams that may exist (overlapping material will cause puckering). No glue or tape is required to hold panels in place.

Step 5 - 1st Top Coat: 16-mil saturate coat of epoxy poured onto the material then evenly rolled. The epoxy will migrate through the FloorPix® perforations and bond to primer coat.

Step 6 - 2nd Top Coat: Before applying material, examine floor for any air pockets or irregularities. If pockets are found, backfill with a hypodermic needle or cut with scissors and back coat before applying the 2nd 16-mil coat. This coat can be rolled or troweled.

Step 7 - 3rd Top Coat: 16-mils for final coat. ( The more mils used the better your results will be) We recommend some kind of non-skid material or orange peel finish to be applied in conjunction with the 3rd coat. It is better to use a matte finish for minimizing marks, dust and dirt for maintenance and clean up.

Installation Tips

Tip 1 - Match primer color to the most dominant color used on the FloorPix® image to help conceal any seams during installation.

Tip 2 - Wear football spike shoes when applying first coat of material, the wider spikes will not pick up the FloorPix® material. Wear golf spike shoes on 2nd and 3rd coats.

Tip 3 - Be sure to inspect for any pockets or irregularities in the FloorPix® before applying 2nd coat. It is much easier to fix problems at that point.

Tip 4 - Proper installation requires 48-mils of topcoat. This will assure best results.

Tip 5 - If out-gassing occurs, be sure to spike roll!

Tip 6 - Colored markers can be used to fill in gaps that will occur between panels. Please test your colored markers with epoxy before using on actual job.

Tip 7 - If sanding is required for any reason, be sure to identify any "high spots" in the floor and hand sand those areas so as not to grind through the coating and ruin the graphic. Same applies to recoats. Be careful!
Basic tech information for file prep.

Raster Images: Scanned images should be input at 300 dpi resolution, at 10% of the final size. Adobe Photoshop is the preferred software but other imaging software is fine as long as images are saved as .tiff or .eps. Images can be either CMYK or RGB (we will convert).

Vector Files: Line art and graphics created in either Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand should be saved in the native format to reduce file size. They may be saved as .eps if you want. Text may be placed in files, but please convert to outlines to avoid font issues. If this is not done, please include the copy of the font that was used so we may accurately image your job. Include any linked or embedded files that were used to produce your job.

Page Layout: Quark Xpress, Adobe Pagemaker or Adobe InDesign may be used for page layout. Proportion your layout to 1" = 1'. (Note: In Quark Xpress, if the final size is greater than 48' in the long direction, you will have to use a scale of less than 1" to 1' because of a page size limitation.) Also you will need to include all of the fonts and supporting files when sending us the final doc.

Transfer Media: Zip 100 and 250mb, CD, DVD or Jaz, are the only media we can accept. Files may be e-mailed if not too large or sent directly to our FTP site. (Call for information)
